In March 2022, against the backdrop of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he tried to organize a march “in support of the army and the president’s policies” from the State Duma building to Triumphal Square in Moscow, but was refused and warned by the city prosecutor’s office. He is a strict supporter of hostilities, opposed peace negotiations with the demand to capture Kyiv.

On January 15, 2023, due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, he was included in the list of Ukraine’s sanctions, for supporting the attack on Ukraine and as an “ideologue of Russian Nazism, irredentism”. It is planned to block assets in the country, suspend the fulfillment of economic and financial obligations, stop cultural exchanges and cooperation, and deprive of Ukrainian state awards."
